Background:
Stephani has a long history in auto racing. Stephani is 4th
generation
racer and is in her 1st year racing. Stephani has been attending
racing
events since she was 2
weeks old and has always had an appreciation
of racing ever since. Stephani use to play with her Matchbox cars daily,
especially when she was attending sprint car events,
as she found
cars more fun then dolls.
Last
year we received her 1st Go Kart a QRC kit that confounded her
dad as he was to put together. Frustrated with the project he
contacted QRC and they put the deal together using only the
top of the line equipment. The Kart is using a Yamaha 250cc
4 stroke engine on a small tube Outlaw Kart.
Once the kart was painted by Summit Auto Body and
lettered by Yak Graphics she was ready to go.
Stephani didn’t even sit in the Kart until her 1st weekend of racing,
we went to the sprint car races on a Friday in Chico and then came
the big day, her 1st race. When the day arrived we got help from
some friends in a parking lot to get her going. We started the kart
up and she ran some laps getting the feel for the Kart.
Feeling like we can take on the races we left for the track.
Stephani’s 1st night at the track was one she will never forget.
Our 1st night at Cycleland, which by the way is a mini Knoxville,
she flipped the kart in the B main passing on the outside when
another kart spun. The impact was good enough to knock
her helmet off. We learned a lot that night including her checking
her chin strap and all of her safety equipment more carefully.
As the
year progressed Stephani ran most of the races at Cycleland
and made some of the main events, which is tough in her class as
there are 40 kids who have been racing since they were 5 years old
in most cases. Cycleland ended with a 100 lap race that showed what
she had learned all year. Stephani ran the entire race including pit
stops and came from 25th to finish up 9th, this was a
chore as she
had to over come heat and pressure form the competitors.
Interest:
Stephani has many interests in life, she is a great lover of the water
and enjoys swimming. She also enjoys snowboarding when she is
not racing. Stephani has a great love for all sorts of music and spends
much of her free time listening to music.
Future
Stephani is going to run next year in 2 classes as much as she can.
Yannazzo Motorsports has recently purchased a 500 cc go kart for
her to race next year once her dad is ready to give up the wheel.
She aspires to race as long as she can and at the same
time pursues her education.
